There is an entry fee, but it is totally worth the $$. This is a great moderate 2 mile loop trail with Cahuilla Indian landmarks and a great story of the Legend of Tahquitz. Bring water and good walking shoes.

Also a fee but totally worth the bucks. Bring water and good walking shoes. There is a whole network of hiking trails at this beautiful place. I’ve gone to Palm Canyon a dozen times, and have therefore never seen the other canyon trails on Andreas and Murray Canyon, but Palm Canyon is an oasis with thick palm trees clustered around a rocky stream bed. It is a pleasurable hike for everyone as you can go as long or as little as you like. Lots of life around the stream, but watch where you step: My daughter was following an albino frog on the other side of the stream and almost stepped on a rattlesnake!

Call them first to find out about seasonal hours. I am a former professional horsewoman and have only heard good things about this place (though I’ve never been there myself).

SO much fun — even my 7 year old could drive one of these ATVs, and my older kids started to be able to do tricks.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
Really close to Via Miraleste! At night in the backyard by the fire-pit, you can watch the tram go up and down the mountain. The PS Aerial Tram has the world’s largest rotating tram cars taking you from the desert floor up 2.5 miles into the alpine forest in about 15 minutes. This is spectacular!
